One of my first actions as chancellor was to invite Dr. John Welty to do an organizational review of the structure and practices of IU South Bend. Dr. Welty is a former university president and consultant from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) Penson Center. He visited the campus twice and met with students, faculty, and staff and community members individually and in groups.
I have received his report and am making it available to the campus community. It can be found at http://go.iu.edu/2csY. The report includes several findings, including the strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities facing the university as well as ten recommendations that address organizational structure, the culture of the campus, and strategic planning.
I will be meeting with various groups to gather their input on the report’s findings and recommendations but would welcome feedback from individuals on campus. A survey can be found at http://go.iu.edu/2csX for you to provide your thoughts. Your responses will be anonymous and collected confidentially by the Chancellor’s Office.
The Welty report, recommendations, and your feedback will be used to help guide me and campus leaders in forming strategies, developing priorities, and making decisions about the structure and direction of IU South Bend. Please read the report and complete the survey by November 15.
Thank you for your time and engagement!
