Sept. 21, 2022
Dear Colleagues,
In her to the ÂþÂþߣ community, President Pamela Whitten announced a strategic plan framework that will serve as the launch of both university-wide and individual campus-based planning initiatives. This framework will serve all IU campuses, providing a unified approach to strategic planning. Individual campuses have been asked to integrate their existing strategic planning work into this framework.
IU 2030 is a university-wide blueprint that includes three pillars:
- Student success and opportunity: We will attract, retain and graduate students who receive an extraordinary and affordable education, and provide them with immersive experiences that elevate them among their peers in the workplace and beyond.
- Transformative research and creativity: We will create tomorrow’s world with innovation that springs from a unique combination of research, discovery, entrepreneurship, and knowledge generation in all spheres of endeavor.
- Service to our state and beyond: We will strengthen and serve our state and its communities, always striving to improve the quality of life for all Hoosiers. We will enhance the vitality of our state and our nation, and of our individual communities, creating a truly global impact.
A has been established for the university framework, and I encourage you to review it and learn more about IU’s bold plans for our third century. In particular, I am energized by the ambitious goals set forth related to student success, research and creative activity, and our service to our respective communities.
What can you expect to see, and take part in, at IU South Bend related to IU 2030?
As you know we recently completed Building a Brighter Future: The ÂþÂþߣ South Bend Strategic Plan 2021-2026. Now, with the IU 2030 framework, we have the opportunity to link our goals, outcomes, and strategies to the broader university pillars. As a result, the focus of our campus IU 2030 strategic planning process will be assessing how our existing plan links with the IU 2030 blueprint, creating alignments, and addressing gaps needed to complete our IU South Bend IU 2030 plan. Our efforts at IU South Bend will play a critical role in our future and what's ahead for all of IU, as we look to unveil all campus IU 2030 plans in March 2023.
I will ask the Campus Directions Committee to lead our work on IU 2030, in collaboration with campus leadership. As always, the Campus Directions Committee will be asked to engage the campus in the planning process through committee work, town halls, and online portals. I look forward to sharing more about our planning process with you in my next campus message and at the next Coffee with the Chancellor in October.
