Greetings Fellow Titans,
Happy new year! I’m sure you all share my excitement for the first day of the Spring 2025 semester. I hope you had a relaxing winter break and that your semester is off to a great start.
By now you know the exciting news that Dr. Brian Pappas has been of IU South Bend, starting July 1st. I look forward to sharing more about Dr. Pappas’ transition in the months ahead. I have been asked to serve as interim deputy chancellor until Dr. Pappas’ arrival and look forward to supporting the campus during this transition. As a lifelong South Bend resident, and IUSB alumnus, I am truly humbled and proud to have the opportunity to help lead the campus during this transition.
Congratulations
As of today, our spring 2025 enrollment is up 4.7 percent compared to this day one year ago! Let’s all take a moment to congratulate each other on this great accomplishment, as it has truly been a team effort. I would like to specifically call out our admissions team for their hard work, and of course our strong faculty for continuing to make our educational experience one that is valuable and attractive to our current and future students.
In Case You Missed It…
Once again, our men’s and women’s basketball teams are in the midst of very competitive seasons. Both teams take on Judson University in the SAC this Wednesday evening, followed by big rivalry games against IU Northwest on Saturday January 18th in the SAC, and at Holy Cross College on Wednesday January 22nd. I urge you all to put on your Titan gear and come out and get loud to show support for the Titans.
Faculty and Staff Funding Opportunities
The 2025 application cycle is now through January 31st for Women of IU South Bend grants. Maximum grant awards are $2,500 each for a one-year duration. Their primary goal is to support initiatives and programs that will further the growth of the university and the region.
Additionally, the is open now through February 2nd. Affinity Giving grants provide financial support for a wide range of initiatives, from academic enrichment programs and student support to groundbreaking research and community outreach endeavors.
We are also excited to announce that applications are now open for the next round of campus now through February 28th for spring and summer activities.
Also keep a look out for Top 25 Titan nomination information later this semester. We look forward to continuing this tradition of recognizing our faculty and staff.
Upcoming Celebrations
Join us on January 17th from 12pm-1pm in The CUBE (Admin 100) to celebrate the 2025 MLK Building Bridges Award nominees from IU South Bend (comments to take place at 12:15pm). The 2025 Building Bridges Award recognizes an individual or group who capture Dr. King’s vision, spirit, and leadership in ways both big and small – right here at IU and within communities across Indiana.
Lastly, I will be hosting a welcome back event for faculty and staff in late January or early February. Keep an eye on the Daily Titan for more details.
Again, I am very grateful to be a part of this wonderful campus community and look forward to our future with Dr. Pappas. Thank you for all that you do to make IUSB an amazing place to work and learn.
Go Titans!
